DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee, and Plex all stopped by the State Theatre on their first stop of their "Music is Awesome" 2014 tour. Playing two shows, an early 3 o'clock, and a later 6 o'clock, the cast got all the kids dancing over the course of the 60 minute show.

'Tim and Eric & Dr. Steve Brule 2014 Tour' @ State Theatre

Tim-and-Eric-Dr-Steve-Brule-State-Theater-Minneapolis-1

Tim & Eric have a new show out now airing on Adult Swim called Bedtime Stories. It's a more traditional show while still aligning with the Tim & Eric brand of humor. Which is to say, it's one complete story that may or may not be funny, but is definitely weird, and possibly unsettling. The duo, along with their friend Dr. Steve Brule, are on tour promoting the new show, and dropped in on the State Theatre to make...

The Classical Actors Ensemble Performs 'Love's Labors Lost' at Twin Cities Parks

Love's labor lost - 2014 The premise of Love's Labors Lost is pretty simple. Four boys swear off girls. Then some girls arrive. Then things go awry. Add to the mix a veritable clown car of characters who all seem to come from slightly different worlds: A fancy Spaniard who might be Inigo Montoya (played by the hilarious Daniel Joeck), the servants played as colorfully dressed Wes Anderson characters/middle school boys, one unnecessarily stupid country wench, a police officer named Dull with a mustache that might be cardboard, and some pretty intense fake Russian accents (you’ll see) -- throw in an accordion, some Beatles'...

Latté Da’s 'Cabaret' Heats up in the Second Act, But Never Reaches the Uncomfortable Temperature the Show Needs

Theater Latte Da - Emcee - Cabaret - Minneapolis play - 2014 "Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome - to my crotch! I’m your sexy emcee for the evening, welcome to the Kit Kat Klub. And my crotch. I’m going to hump everything for a while, and then the Nazis are going to come." Welcome to Theater Latté Da’s production of the hit musical Cabaret. Peter Rothstein directs this dark and funny romp through the seedy underbelly of Berlin’s nightlife in a Germany on the brink of Nazi uprising. There will be confetti guns, there will be terribly overdone German accents, there will be stripper...

'Fuddy Meers' -- The Uneasy Marriage of Crazy Farce and a Serious Topic

The Loudmouth Collective - Fuddy Mears - Theater Review - Minnesota Connected - 2014

The Loudmouth Collective goes all out and full volume in Fuddy Meers, David Lindsay-Abaire’s in-your-face comedy about memory loss and family. The humor meanders from zany into full blown hysteria, with a virtual clown car of crazy characters, and several plots intersecting for one wild ride. Meet Claire. She is an amnesiac a la 50 First Dates, who wakes up as a clean slate every morning. On this particular...

'Wicked' Lands at the Orpheum and Enchants the Twin Cities

Wicked - Minneapolis

If there’s a must-see musical of 2013 in the Twin Cities, it’s this one. The hit musical Wicked flew into Minneapolis on September 18th and I had the privilege of being in the audience last weekend. The play was nothing short of magical. Not a single actor or actress was off key, not a single line was missed; it was exactly what you’d expect from a Broadway original: perfection. The play, based on the Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz...
