Commemorative Air Force's Spring Swing Hangar Dance 2014

Each summer The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) hosts an unforgettable dance. The CAF is exactly what it sounds like -- a group to commemorate the air force military branch. Born in 1971, the CAF's Minnesota Wing was the first national unit, and aided our militia as a maintenance support station for rare aircrafts. Today they honor the past and present military men and women by throwing various events, and are home to that primary station for storing the aircrafts -- a huge hangar. The hangar and attached museum display six WWII aircrafts. For the past 20 years CAF has thrown a spring swing dance. The public is invited to dance along to the music provided by the Roseville Big Band. This year's dance will be Saturday, June 7th. Doors open at 6 pm -- dancing starts at 8pm and ends at midnight.

Can't swing dance? Not a problem! At 7 pm, between the two hour period of doors opening and the official start of the dance, the Twin Cities Swing will give free swing dancing lessons. The dress attire recommended is WWII era. Prizes will be given for best dressed! The venue will be the Fleming Field in South Saint Paul. Tickets are now on sale for $12.50 or $15.00 at the door. d936728bc0ee4e7a191f35f325cbe06e.png The only thing missing here is you! Come out for a night that brings you back in time to experience one of the United States in her former military glory. Pull on some vintage 1940s clothes, be dazzled by the expert swing dancers, sway your hips to the lilting music, and enjoy a night of grooving. All proceeds benefit the museum.   Photos via: Matt Holland Photography -- Google
