Super Troopers is one of those beloved, cult comedies that people can quote over and over. The movie came out 17 years ago (wow, that sure makes me feel old) and still to this day is one of my favorite comedies. Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe behind the aforementioned title,
Club Dread,
Beerfest and
Slammin' Salmon, has wanted to make a
Super Troopers 2 for years -- but it never quite got the traction needed to be made (a lot of that had to due to the project not getting studio support, i.e. funding).
So the Broken Lizard guys took it upon themselves and crowdfunded the film, seeking to raise $2 million to get this project started -- in a show of support that surprised almost no one, the project
raised $4.6 million raised by over 54,000 backers.
This being 2018 and the month of April, the long-awaited sequel is finally upon us. The Broken Lizard troupe has been making their rounds to promote the film, with Minnesota native Erik Stolhanske leading the charge through the state (fun fact:
I worked on a short film with Stolhanske -- he is an even better person than comedic actor). The movie has plenty of buzz.
So do you want to get out and see Super Troopers 2? How about for free? How about the Monday before the film is even released?
