A Minnesota-made film titled My Senior Year will hit the Mall of America Theaters tomorrow and have a brief theatrical run through Saturday December 7th. Local filmmaker Joe Carlini has been working hard on his first feature film since the summer of 2012, a project he had the idea for in high school. Now his hard work has come to fruition with a brief showcase at the Mall of America.
The majority of the project was filmed in the halls of Woodbury High School and in St. Paul -- Carlini attended Woodbury High School in his youth, a connection which helped him with his film. He was able to use the school as his backdrop for his coming of age film about a boy named Brian working through the trials of adolescence.
Carlini has higher aspirations for the film and is currently seeking distribution for his first big project. For Carlini, this screening at the Mall of America is just the first step of many towards getting his film a much larger release.
