Menards Recalling Fake Christmas Trees Due to Fire Risk

The beloved hardware store Menards is recalling 1,800 artificial pre-lit Christmas trees sold exclusively at their Midwest stores. The expensive, $300 fake trees are being recalled due to the lights potentially overheating, starting a fire, burning consumers or causing electric shock. The Eau Claire based chain acknowledged two reports of the lights on the tree overheating, smoking, or melting. Menards also notes that no injuries were reported. Consumers who have the tree are advised to unplug it immediately and then return the tree to Menards for a full refund. The official name for the seven and half foot tree is the Twinkling Pine sold by the Enchanted Forest brand. The trees with 400 champagne-colored LED lights were manufactured in China (surprise, surprise) and imported by Seasonal Specialities LLC. The model number for the defunct trees is 287-1261 and the UPC code is 741895425478. Both numbers are printed on the box and attached to a one of the tree's branches.
