At the Minnesota State Fair's FAN Central Building, the Minnesota Wild revealed their new away jerseys -- side note, these jerseys are ridiculously awesome. I may be tempted to get out and buy myself one. The jerseys were shown off at the fairgrounds by Wild forwards Nino Niederreiter and Stephane Veilleux.
I seriously cannot get enough of these jerseys. In my opinion, these are the best jerseys to ever represent the franchise. With the help of Reebok and the NHL, the Wild's Creative Services Team took 18 months to design and prototype the new sweaters, all while using season ticket holder feedback to help along the way. Everyone involved, great job.
Of course, unveiling these new jerseys is a great way to get fans talking about hockey again as the beginning of football season dominates the sports headlines. While this isn't necessarily "headline grabbing," this news will make a splash for hockey fans. It's nice to get something fresh to keep the apparel from becoming dated -- this is also a huge win for the Wild who will surely now rake in boat loads of money for these new away jersey sales.
"It was important for our organization to maintain the primary Wild mark on the new road sweater," said Vice President of Brand Marketing, John Maher. "We feel the theme of the white jersey fits well into our family of jerseys and wanted this sweater to have a unique look instead of being a reverse of our existing red and green jerseys."
I cannot wait to see the Wild skating in these new away sweaters -- hopefully their great new away jerseys will inspire some great road wins.
