If there's one thing we love in Minnesota, it's the great outdoors. With more about 75 state parks, we have lots of ways to get out and explore. Now the Minnesota Zoo is creating another opportunity to experience the great outdoors, specifically for kids.
The zoo and its supporters broke ground last Tuesday on a new nature-based outdoors playground. Â The 30,000 square feet play area is a part of the zoo's Crossroads Park reinvention project. The playground will feature caves, climbing boulders, tree-top towers and of course, slides.
The project will cost $1.2 million and is privately-funded. The playground will open in 2015.
