Halloween is just around the corner and besides decorating my home with tacky decor, I like to get in the mood by watching (and re-watching) as many scary movies as I can. The list below is what I consider must-sees whether it be the day before Halloween or any month of the year.
The list is a mix of films I remember watching as a child (although I don't think I should have been) and films I have seen recently. My dad was and still is a huge fan of the Sci-Fi/Horror genres so growing up there was always some sort of TV Show or movie on within the realm of those genres so naturally I grew up to love them too. From
X-Files to
Evil...

Fans will remember his enthusiasm for the game of baseball. Not only that, but they will also remember his many great catches. On some of those catches, he would crash into the wall and you would wonder if he had gotten seriously injured on the play.
After 19 seasons of playing for the Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Detroit Tigers, 40-year-old Torii Hunter has finally decided to hang it up.
“I’ve been married to the game 23 years. I put it almost No. 1 in my life. My family kind of second. I made sacrifices for my family. And now it is time to give them more time,” Hunter...

The sporting world learned of Minnesota Timberwolves' coach, president, owner and adopted son Flip Saunders'
cancer in August and Sunday we were saddled with the terrible news of his passing.
Former Gopher Philip “Flip” Saunders, 60, had been described as an ambassador for basketball and a "basketball lifer." Fans and players reminisced about Flip's impact after news broke of his passing due to Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Saunders played point guard and coach-on-the-floor for the Golden Gophers from 1974-1977 as an important player in a strong...!--more-->

Ghosts, villains, monsters, and murderers. When you think of the typical ‘haunted house’ of Halloween themed festival, these are the things that come to mind. And Trail of Terror, located in Shakopee, on the same grounds as the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, packs a punch with all of these and more.
The eerie feeling begins immediately with the drive into the trail grounds. The park doesn’t open until 7 p.m., so you’re driving in at night, and you’re directed through a narrow trail of trees with little to no light around. It feels like a scene from a horror movie and...!--more-->

Fantasy has enjoyed an upswing in the last two decades. Twenty years ago the term conjured for the public imagination images of Disney films, kitschy studio oddities like
Willow and
Labyrinth, and low rent embarrassments like the
Dungeons and Dragons movie. Today fantasy films are often pitched as major awards contenders. They litter the summer and fall release slots. “Nerd culture” has not just been accepted by pop culture. It has become pop culture.
Guillermo Del Toro, the writer and director of
Crimson Peak, is as responsible for the present climate as anyone. His early films

It is not often you see a cow running loose in the middle of a city, but that is exactly what happened midday last Friday.
During the lunch hour, police in St. Paul tried to capture a heifer that had
escaped from the State Fairgrounds while being unloaded. The cow was part of the Minnesota British White and Park Association sale. The cow which was first mistaken for a bull was seen in the railroad yard of Energy Park Drive and Snelling Avenue.
Attempts to capture the cow were unsuccessful. Animal...!--more-->

Aaron Sorkin is one of most renowned writers of drama and dialogue in Hollywood today. His 2010 script for
The Social Network was one of the best movies I've seen in the past 20 years. The dialogue is electric, the pacing of the film is perfect and the duration is never boring. Yet, going into
Steve Jobs with high expectations, I left the theater nothing but disappointed.
Despite all the love this movie has received (
85% of Rotten Tomatoes), I have to say I wasn't impressed one bit with this film. I was engaged in the Steve Jobs story the...!--more-->

A Minnesota family has a semblance of closure after the body of their family member was found in the Mississippi river Thursday morning.
Joe Brunn, 23, of Monticello had been missing since Saturday at 2 a.m. after leaving Boondox Bar and Grille in Otsego. Brunn headed toward the Holiday Inn where he had a room reserved, he was seen last by one of his friends walking away from the hotel.
The body was found around 300 yards south of the Minnesota 101 bridge and 30 feet from shore, according to the
Wright County Sheriff's Office. The body was picked up by a police boat and transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for identification...!--more-->

It was an excellent season all around for the Minnesota Twins in 2015. The Twins were in a race for a playoff spot until the last series of the season. They were officially eliminated from the playoffs in the 161st game of the season, a 5-1 loss on Saturday to the Kansas City Royals.
Although the team missed the playoffs, there are still many fond memories that us fans of Twins Territory can take away from the season. We witnessed the debuts of Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario. Late season call up Tyler Duffey provided some much needed help in the starting rotation. What is even more remarkable is the...!--more-->
