The Vikings headed into Thursday night's 1st round of the NFL draft with the 11th selection. For the first time since 2011, the team ended up with only one first-round pick.
Minnesota selected Michigan State junior cornerback Trae Waynes. Waynes becomes the highest drafted cornerback in Vikings history and will pair with 2013's 29th pick Xavier Rhodes on the outside.
"Man, I'm so excited. It's a great feeling. I can't wait to get to Minnesota and start working," Waynes said.
Waynes is no stranger to playing in TCF Bank Stadium, as he played there as a Spartan in 2012 as a redshirt freshman. Waynes started...!--more-->

The summer is always marred with blockbusters of all sorts -- destruction flicks, monster movies, goofy comedies, and of course plenty of superhero chapters to span the warmer months. This summer is of course no different, with the highly anticipated
The Avengers: Age of Ultron kicking off the summer season. I for one have enjoyed most of the Marvel chapters (minus
Iron Man 3 and
The Winter Soldier) and

One of the big storylines of the season so far for the Minnesota Twins has been the offense. Ranked near the bottom in the American League in almost every category, the offense has sputtered like a motor running out of gas for the duration of this short season. There have been signs of the offense waking up, but then when you think that it was going to last, the offense then seemingly takes a step back.
Manager Paul Molitor has tried various lineups in hopes of getting the offense jump started. However, none seems to do the trick. Molitor has even admitted this past weekend to writing a lineup with Joe...!--more-->

Wildlike screened last week as part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Film Festival, one of the many stellar pre-theatrical features offered to local audiences. Capturing the picturesque Alaskan tundra in 35 mm film (a rarity these days) and boasting a cast that includes Ella Purnell (
Never Let Me Go,
Maleficent) and Bruce Greenwood (
Star Trek,
Meek’s Cutoff), it’s one of those expertly crafted, refreshingly grown up dramas that have become far too rare in multiplexes.

The music scene today is impossibly vast.
The sum total of radio stations, even more open-minded ones like The Current and Radio K, cannot absorb the sheer magnitude of cult favorites, local secrets, and promising upstarts that flood the orgy of blank stimulation known as the Internet.
As such, a band like
The Mountain Goats can excel both critically and commercially enough to headline a show at First Avenue last Sunday (April 19), while many will have no idea who they are.
Here’s a quick introduction for curious souls.

Sleeping cargo worker Willa Junior woke in pitch darkness with engines roaring inflight, on Alaska Airlines flight 448 last week, a Boeing 737-900 bound for Los Angeles. Willa Junior told ABC News that he didn’t expect to survive. He called 911 and after the call dropped, he left a farewell text for his mom. His frantic pounding on the ceiling caught the attention of first class passengers as well as two air marshals.
Willa said he was yelling:
“Help me. Someone is down here.”
Quickly, a flight emergency was declared and the airborne aircraft turned around and landed back at...!--more-->

The new Minnesota Stadium construction continues toward its goal of a July 2016 opening and the
team announced last week it had reached 50% completion in the 16 months since its groundbreaking. Meanwhile, the team and stadium authority have had other news to report.
Over 900 workers are on site pouring concrete (about 80% done) and completing the frame of the stadium. The highest point of the ring beam around the roof line was recently poured, 269 feet above the ground. Two pieces remain to connect the large center...!--more-->
