Twins Top Prospect Starting to Show His Value

buxton

Before Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox, fans in Twins Territory were debating whether or not Byron Buxton was overmatched in the Major Leagues. Buxton, who was rated the #1 prospect in all of baseball before the start of the season, had been called up from double-A Chattanooga over a week ago because of a shortage of outfielders on the big league club. While in Texas, Torii Hunter decided to serve his two-game suspension for throwing things onto the field after his ...

Vikings-USBank-Stadium-WEB-600x330

We will no longer have to refer to the new Vikings Stadium anymore as the “Vikings stadium” or “Minnesota Vikings stadium.” It was announced on Monday that U.S. Bank had reached a naming rights deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The Minneapolis based bank will pay a published cost of $220 million over 20 years to have their name on the stadium, making it the fourth NFL facility to have the name of a bank on it. The stadium will now be called U.S. Bank Stadium. U.S. Bank CEO Richard Davis said in an article on the ...

Movie Review: 'Inside Out' is Another Emotional Masterpiece from Pixar

Inside Out_1From the studio that introduced you to an adventurous young girl, turned her into an old woman, and then killed her off in the first ten minutes of what was ostensibly a film for young children…

…that opened a winning comedy about a robot in space with a vision of Earth as a post-apocalyptic wasteland where most animals (and presumably people) had died from human greed and wastefulness… …that took some of the most iconic characters in movie history and threatened to burn all of them in a fiery pit that bore no small resemblance to hell… Pixar Animation Studios proudly presents: Birth. An infant opens her eyes for the very first time. We bear witness to this miracle...

Minnesota White Rabbit: One Pill Made You Larger, One Pill

University_of_Minnesota_entrance_sign_1

In April, the University of Minnesota’s Psychiatry Department Chairman stepped down and psychiatric drug studies were halted, in the wake of a state report criticizing the school’s role in the suicide of patient Dan Markingson. Against his mothers’ wishes, the 27-year-old Markingson had been enrolled in a 2004 clinical trial for antipsychotic drugs. This week the University approved sweeping changes to protect human subjects involved in medical trials. In retrospect, we wonder what took so long? We harken back to a surreal winter in 1936 when the U of M was doling out free breakfast and lunch...

Movie Review -- 'Jurassic World' Thrills

jurassic world -2

Jurassic World comes to life every bit the dream that John Hammond imagined for his own Jurassic Park in 1993 -- children running, laughing through the park while awe struck parents follow behind, large majestic dinosaurs on display for the world to finally see. Trust me, they spared no expense! But alas, nothing gold can stay. A new, fully loaded, genetically created dinosaur, not fully understood by her creators, and quite terrifying, hits center stage. Indominus Rex! Ian Malcom said it best in The Lost World, “Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. ...

Torii Hunter Ejected -- Twins Start Off June on Sour Note

Minnesota_Twins_Insignia

Two weeks ago, we were talking about how the Minnesota Twins were tied for first in the American League Central with the Kansas City Royals and proving the experts wrong on the Twins having another bad season by having a very successful May. They would finish May with a record of 20-7 and a spot atop the American League Central. They had the best record in the American League at 30-19 and the second best record in all of Major League Baseball. Since...
