So this happened today... a Caramel Apple Cheesecake and German Chocolate Cake experience happened, courtesy of Cafe Latte on Grand Ave. in St. Paul. The desserts are the real jackpot of the place. They are, in a word, glorious. If you want a sugar hit or need to satisfy a deep chocolate craving -- welcome home.
This is a perfect stop with a good friend or relative kind of place -- or a far into the relationship vs. 1st date food indulgence level companion. Someone who won't judge, and will enter into the world of large decadent dessert with you. Do...!--more-->

Get that Star Wars reference in the title, galaxy far, far away? I thought it was clever. The Hubble Telescope is Earth's finest instrument for looking into space -- it's location in space makes it that much more effective than the landlocked telescopes that battle the Earth's atmosphere, light pollution, etc. The Hubble can take images of space from space -- and because it is so effective, and because there is only one, scientists are always clamoring for the opportunity to point the Hubble to areas of space they find most interesting.

Although frigid temperatures are inevitably waiting to snap the minds of many Minnesotans, fall is a perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy some of the finest camping weather of the year.
And there are few places better to do so than Moose Lake State Park, an easy 2-hour drive from the Twin Cities.
In addition to prime camping within the state park, there are also opportunities to fish, canoe, hike and even hunt for agates. In fact, the state’s gemstones are so plentiful in the region, an Agate and Geological Interpretive Center is attached to the park’s main...!--more-->

David Letterman has been very well known for his Top Ten lists on his Late Night television show. Many of us remember Letterman filling his auditorium with Minnesota residents and watching Kirby Puckett recite a list of
Top Ten Ways to Mispronounce the Name Kirby Puckett. On Monday evening at a Minnesota Business Partnership dinner, Letterman appeared via a video feed -- he

When ‘stiletto nails’ first burst onto the scene, I was baffled. I wondered, what could be the appeal of having unnaturally long nails that come to a point? I figured they would be a minor fad that would shortly fade out. However, the trend grew, as did my interest in them. I began to wonder where this style came from, assuming it was a new fashion creation because I didn’t remember ever seeing them around before. However, upon further research I discovered that the trend wasn’t new at all. In fact, the first case of a celebrity donning ‘pointy nails’ was as early as the 1950s,...

The Vikings home opener is tomorrow -- with that in mind, if you or anyone you know is going to the game, please pass this information along to them. Any die-hard Apple fan looking to snatch up anything and everything from the technology giant was waiting in line this morning to be one of the first to get their hands on one of the new Apple iPhones. I think it can be a bit ridiculous to wait in line for a phone, especially for days like some in New York, and certainly for those who don't really need a new phone but just want to have Apple's latest and greatest. But I too have waited in line for consumer products, so I can cast no stones. But has Apple really redefined anything with their latest phones?
Today, the...!--more-->

Ask Apple Jack Orchards Manager Mike Dekarski what makes his business so successful and his answer is short and sweet.
“Thirty years of hard work,” he explains.
Dekarski and his wife, Kit, are the full-time managers and former owners of Apple Jack Orchards, located about 30 miles west of the Twin Cities near Delano. "The orchard started in 1983 with an initial planting of 250 trees," Dekarski said. In the 30 years that have passed, the business has expanded and now features more than 10,000 trees and 29 varieties of Minnesota apples.
Apple Jack Orchards also feature pick-your-own fall raspberries, pumpkins...!--more-->

The Shining will be making a debut as an opera -- Minnesota Opera attained the rights to Stephen King's famous work and already hired writer Mark Campbell and composer Paul Moravec to make this idea come to fruition. Coming 2016 to the Ordway for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, yes,
The Shining. I'm not sure I needed to see an opera of this classic tale -- I guess I will have to reserve judgement until 2016.
In a press release Moravec speaks of the project, particularly Stephen King's novel:
"It features the classic elements...
