Westerns and remakes run at the core of Hollywood tradition so much that it’s surprising it took the studios this long to get to The Magnificent Seven
. Originally a remake of the cinematic classic Seven Samurai
by legendary director Akira Kurosawa, The Magnificent Seven
tells a story that deeply resonates because it has all the right ingredients: underdog heroes, revenge, righteous indignation, and standing up to ruthless villains even when the cards are stacked against you.

In the past two weeks, the Minnesota Vikings faced off against the past two NFL league MVPs. In the past two weeks, the Vikings defense has made both look pedestrian. The Vikings made the pair look like Cleveland Brown quarterbacks.
These two quarterbacks are on their way to the HOF (if Cam stays on his current trajectory of greatness), and both looked disheveled, intimated and confused versus the Vikings defense. The two quarterbacks combined for two rushing touchdowns, one passing touchdown, four interceptions, three fumbles and were sacked a total of 13 times
Ed Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the Lebron and Steph Curry of mountaineering -- yet all they could do was wait. They were holed up in a small tent on the South Col of Mount Everest while the ‘varsity’ team of two climbers was aggressively attacking the last 2,000 vertical feet above them. Their colleagues would become the first climbers to summit Everest, the world’s highest and most unreachable peak. In contrast to other climbers, Hillary and Tenzing were imposing physical specimens. Hillary was 6 foot 5 inches of lean, sinewy muscle and abounding energy. Norgay was larger than other Sherpas and his elite acclimatization...
Even if you aren't a football fan, it was no secret the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers squared off in a heated divisional matchup last night in Minneapolis. Not only was this an important game for both teams (and their respective fan bases), but this was the big U.S. Bank Stadium unveiling to the football world. Oh, and on top of that, the Vikings started a quarterback, Sam Bradford, who was on a different team two weeks ago. Even with all that considered, the biggest moments last night were Stefon Diggs emerging as a star in the NFL. Diggs helped the hometown Minnesota Vikings edge the Green Bay Packers 17-14...
On paper, Snowden
looks like an American cinema classic in the making. Oliver Stone is at the helm with a solid screenwriter and cinematographer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the lead actor surrounded by a fantastic group of supporting actors. The story is a real life spy thriller with real-life consequences that can speak about relevant topics. Unfortunately, despite the intriguing story, solid pacing and cinematography, and Levitt's best performance to date, Stone doesn't seem to know how to piece this story together with awkward tonal changes, preachy politics, a love story that runs out...
It was a warm, sunny day that suddenly turned gloomy and morose in the snap of a football. The understudy watched in horror as the medical staff tended to the fallen player’s broken and dislocated leg. Then the staff gingerly loaded the star quarterback on to a stretcher and off to the hospital with sirens blaring.
When the players gathered in the huddle, they were still numb from the injury and he broke the ice by asking:
“All right, anyone know any dirty jokes?”
They all laughed at the back-up quarterback, Earl Morrall....!--more-->
