Musician Neko Case and Comedian Andy Richter are coming to St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 7 to participate in a stage and radio show performed in the Fitzgerald Theater.
The show, titled Wits, consists of interviews, comedic sketches, musical performances and a game show between the two guests. It is hosted by John Moe, a man with a deep background in the Twin Cities, including various writing, stage-performance and musical gigs.
The pairing of Neko Case and Richter is a tremendous combination. Both have sensational abilities when it comes to improv-comedy, conversation and overall charm. Case is most recognized for her powerful, elegant vocals and her solo career, though she is also a member of The New Pornographers. Richter has been the long-standing sideman for Conan O’Brien on his late-night television program. Richter has also appeared in several hit movies, including Elf.
Wits began in 2010 and a podcast was created in 2012. Most of its audience comes via online streaming. The live shows are apparently where the magic is at, though there is nothing wrong with tuning in from the comfort of home.
Neko Case headlined First Avenue’s Mainroom back in October, where she displayed her sharp-edged humor and feisty monologues in between songs. She was not shy about speaking to the audience and her style is a poetic rated-R. Her scintillating style should pair well with Richter, a man who just makes most of life resemble the comedy it truly is.
Tickets can be obtained here. The show will be recorded live Friday, Feb. 7 at the Fitzgerald Theater.
