Road Work in the Twin Cities Area Ratchets Up This Weekend

roadwork in MN - June 2014

We all know the old joke -- Minnesota has only two seasons, right? The go by winter and road construction. And since the sun is shining and the weather is warm, that means it's road construction time. We've all already seen the beginning of construction on our daily commutes. But this weekend is set to bring even more road projects than usual. This weekend will bring some additional projects. I-35E in St. Paul - Full closure on I-35E between I-94 and Highway 36. Closure begins at 9 pm on Friday and will reopen at 5 am on Monday. The Larpenteur Avenue Bridge will remain closed until mid-July. I-694 in North Metro - Full closure of eastbound at I-94 and ramp onto eastbound I-694 from northbound Hwy 100 starting at 8 pm Friday and reopening at 5 am Monday. I-35E in St. Paul - Victoria Street exit and entrance ramps closed until 7 pm Monday June 16.   Added to already in place construction: I-35W in Minneapolis: Long term construction work between 4th Street and Stinson Boulevard until November 7. Hwy 169 in Edina and Eden Prarie- Southbound 169 between Hwy 62 and Valley View Road. Closed until early July. Hwy 65 in Minneapolis - Closed to through traffic between 18th and 14th avenues through the fall.   Photo via: Jo Naylor
