'Running of the Bulldogs' at Canterbury Park

bull dog racing This Father's Day, Canterbury Park will be straying from the typical horse racing and introducing a new breed: bulldog racing. Races will take place this Sunday between Horse Races 3, 5 and 7 from 1 pm to 6 pm The race has been titled 'The Running of the Bulldogs,' playing off of Canterbury's attempt to hold a Running of the Bulls event last year. The event was cancelled based on safety concerns after a bull escaped from the Dakota County fair. At the time, about 500 people had already registered for the event. This is not the first time, or the last, that Canterbury has featured races with nontraditional animals. They host dachshund races on Labor Day, with test runs on the Fourth of July. They also feature an Extreme Race Day on July 19. These races host exotic animals including camels, ostriches and zebras.   Photo via: All Star French Bulldogs
