Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Sylvia Fowles and the rest of the WNBA's most recent dynasty ticked off another accomplishment Tuesday by besting their own record start of 2012 to start 11-0 with an 87-63 win over...

Not to be
outdone by Oman Oman, a Minnesota mom made a miracle shot this week, earning $4,000 off her daughter's tuition.
Angela Ramey and her daughter Grace were the top performers in a recent fundraiser at Bethany Academy in Bloomington. As a reward, the school gave Angela three tries at a half-court basketball shot to provide her daughter a 50% discount off next year's $8,000 tuition charge.
Angela missed the first shot. And the...!--more-->

The Austin boys high school basketball team stayed unbeaten thanks to a highly improbable, buzzer-beating, full court shot in Northfield on Tuesday night.
With just 1.6 seconds remaining in the game, Austin trailed the Northfield Raiders by 56-54. And then, like something from out of an unrealistic sports movie, Junior Oman Oman from Austin rebounded a missed Northfield free throw, and unleashed an 80-foot prayer that found the bottom of the net just as the final horn sounded.
Austin won the game 57-56. And fortunately for us all, a cell phone camera of Oman's miracle bucket (and...!--more-->

The top basketball recruit in Minnesota announced his intentions to become a Gopher in a press conference Monday afternoon.
"It just felt right," Coffey said. "It felt like I was supposed to be there and it felt like home."
An ESPN 100 recruit and Scout's 41st best prospect in the nation, Coffey was forced to sit out much of last season after sustaining an ACL tear. The 6-foot-7, 195 pound guard showed the skills before the injury to possibly vault him towards the position of a top-25 player. His time at Hopkins also included the 2013-14 state AAAA championship (and this
buzzer-beater) while teammates...

The two major league basketball teams in the state of Minnesota have both recently made moves to bolster their respective rosters.
The Timberwolves and its sister club, the Lynx both acquired new players, hoping to provide both leadership and statistical improvement.
The Wolves made the signing of 39-year-old point guard Andre Miller official Aug. 3, a move that is much more likely to bring poise and leadership to the backcourt behind Ricky Rubio and Zach LaVine than outright production. He looks to be the guard equivalent of KG's frontcourt...!--more-->

The NBA held its draft lottery Tuesday night and the Minnesota Timberwolves came away with the top pick of the 2015 draft. This marks the first time in franchise history that the team would be making the first selection in the NBA Draft. The pick comes in another deep draft class, which should bring in another good player to pair with the last two first-overall picks and other lottery selections in the past few drafts.
The Wolves "won" the best chance (25%) of winning the first selection of the draft after a 16-66 record this past season (that's a lot of losing). It has been

We saw Duke and Minnesota's own Tyus Jones win the NCAA men's basketball national championship Monday. Jones was just one of the best players in one of the best recruiting classes out of Minnesota last year.
Minnesota had the best high school basketball players it's had in a long time. We saw them spread across the country after Gophers head coach Richard Pitino was unfortunately skipped over due to the timing of his hire and the unfamiliarity between him and the recruits (...!--more-->

The Gophers Men's Basketball team's Big Ten Tournament was over last week after a 79-73 loss to Ohio State (23-9) in the second game of the tournament for Minnesota.
The Gophers (18-15) headed into the Tournament as one of the bottom four seeds of the 14-team conference, which forced them into a play-in game against Rutgers (10-22) on Wednesday in Chicago. The Gophers took the game 80-68 despite zero points from star guard Andre Hollins. The team needed to win five games in five days to make it to the NCAA Tournament via automatic bid.
"We definitely came in with the mindset of making a run," point guard DeAndre Mathieu said after Thursday's...

As Minnesota Connected
reported last Friday, this Wednesday night, Kevin Garnett will pull a #21 Timberwolves jersey over his distinctive wiry shoulders for the first time in nearly eight years. After what is sure to be a goose bump-inducing player introduction sequence (which will, no doubt, involve Diddy’s “
Coming Home”), the house lights will come up and “Da (now...

After one of the craziest trade deadline days ever in the NBA (over 8% of the league was traded), the Timberwolves came away with one extremely familiar face: Da Kid, The Franchise, The Big Ticket, KG, Kevin Garnett.
Chase Budinger, Kevin Martin and recently acquired guard Gary Neal (who may yet be ...!--more-->
