With the anniversary of the passing of Minnesota music legend Prince, it's no surprise that a lot of tributes and dedications make their way to the local scene. Many radio stations played non-stop Prince, dance clubs had all night parties and First Avenue played host to many mourners from across the globe who came to pay their respects to the exterior famed golden star of Prince.
Prince showed that music is not only alive in Minnesota, but thriving. First Avenue is one of the nation's most famous venues -- and with that, there have been a multitude of legendary performers and performances over the years.

One of Minnesota’s most iconic recording artists passed away on Thursday. Prince (full name Prince Rogers Nelson) died at the age of 57. The exact cause of death is not known at this time.
According to the Carver County Sheriff’s office, at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday, emergency personnel responded to a medical call at the Paisley Park complex, where his home and studio are located in Chanhassen. 2013 was a fantastic year for live music in Minnesota with an endless number of options. I wished I could have attended more shows, but in the end, I value my marriage, day job, and sleep. Though, in 2013 I did attend more shows in a single year that I ever had before, 38 concerts to be exact. That's a concert every 9.5 days. I definitely couldn't have done that without the support of my wife. Thanks Carrie! Just a heads up though, I already have tickets to ten shows in 2014, but I promise I'll be quiet when I get home.
