With summer finally coming on (is it? wasn't it 52º today in the Twin Cities?) it's hard to embrace the long wait until the Minnesota State Fair. But Minnesota is filled with many other summer fairs that can help bridge the gap between now and then.
The Clay County Fair is certainly one of those events -- look for this fair in mid July in Barnesville. Sure it's a drive northwest up 94, but it's worth it for fair food.
The four day event is packed with family entertainment that has something for everyone to appreciate. Most of all, delicious (and mostly unhealthy) food.
This fair has been in operation for over a century, starting up in 1914. Each year the fair has a host of kids' activities, live music, animals, carnival rides, the previously mentioned food options and all the essentials to a century long-running fair. Oh, not to mention 2017 will be the return of the beloved Clay County Fair Demolition Derby.
The Clay County Fair runs from July 13-16 in 2017.
