Well, Minnesota, it took long enough, but summer is finally in full swing and there is nothing I like more than a good excuse to go shopping. Since we can’t zip up our winter boots for most summer outings, I’ve generated a list of the three most important shoes to have for the fleeting warm months.
Let's get started.
#1 The White Lace Up
The most diverse, and arguably most comfortable, shoe that I don during the summer is my plain white lace up sneaker. This shoe can be found anywhere fromÂ
Charlotte Russe toÂ
Target and normally run for under $14. Because they’re so simple, these shoes can be worn with almost any casual outfit. I usually slip them on with my high waisted purple shorts or a simple sundress and jean jacket. These are my favorite summer shoes because they are perfect for any sunny day occasion. If you’re feeling a little bit edgy, go for the currently hot high-tops. Some prefer them over the lace-ups and they usually come at a similar price.
#2 The Nude Pump
The second shoe on my list is the simple nude pump. This shoe happens to be Kate Middleton’s favorite shoe and there’s a reason why. No matter the height, a nude high heel is a timeless addition to any fabulous outfit. This shoe can be found at almost any clothing retailer, but my favorites come fromÂ
Forever 21. I usually step into these on my way to work with an a-line dress or if I’m heading out for a night with my friends with some black skinny jeans and a peplump shirt. You can’t go wrong picking a nude pump if you feel like throwing on a bright colored summer dress. The best part of these shoes is that they look and feel elegant on any day you feel like being a little bit extra fabulous.
#3 The Ballet Flat
Last, but certainly not least is the ballet flat. This shoe felt a wave of popularity a few years ago but still hasn’t lost its sparkle. This is because it’s such a comfy practical shoe that can either blend in or stand out. Don’t get me wrong, normally I gush over a five-inch heels, but every once in a while, you need to step out of the stilettos and into something pretty yet pragmatic. Personally, I like to have a pair of red, white, and black flats in my closet because that way I’m never at a loss when it comes to matching it to my outfit. If you're ever near an H&M store, stop in and pick up a cute pair of flats -- they always end up being one of my favorite purchases. These are great beach-going shoes if you’re not one for the flip flops as they are easy to slip on and off and go great with any swim suit or cover up.
So thus completes my list of my favorite summer footwear, choices that range from elegant to practical. Take some of these tips into consideration when picking out your summer outfits ladies.
