Twins Place Struggling Worley on Waivers

Screen Shot 2014-04-30 at 3.04.49 PM Sometimes in the world of sports we hear stories about athletes arriving to preseason practices with a new look after coming off a rough season. The athlete has lost weight, they have an extra spring in their step and hope to rebound to their old-winning ways. For about two weeks, Twins' fans had this dream about right-hander Vance Worley. Well, it's time to wake up. The Twins placed Worley on waivers -- he has been blundering, floundering and staggering about the mound this spring which is no surprise considering his awful first season with the Twins. Given Worley's spring performances, he won't be attracting much attention on the waiver wire -- at this point anyone can claim him. He has a 13.50 ERA this spring and has allowed 22 hits in 10 2/3 innings -- as you can guess, the opposing batters are killing him, batting .415 against him. Vance Worley - twins Worley was considered a candidate to make the Twins' remade rotation this season, but that appears all but impossible as of today. In fact, former Twin Chuck Knoblauch probably has a better chance to make the Twins starting rotation than Worley does. Despite a promising start with the Phillies, last season for Minnesota Worley went (1 - 5) with a 7.21 ERA. Remember the slick-fielding Ben Revere? The Twins traded him for Worley (as well as pitching prospect Trevor May). Goodbye Vance, you will not be missed by Twins fans.   Photo by: Keith Allison -- BeGreen90
