Unbelievable Last Second Win Sends Gophers to Championship Game

It's been a great stretch for Minnesota hockey — professional and college — and last night just added to the awesomeness. In case you didn't hear about it yet, the Gopher Men's Hockey team won a game on Thursday in circumstances for which the word "thrilling" doesn't quite do enough to describe it. Here is the footage of the game-winning goal: And here are some of the numbers you might be interested in knowing:
0.6
That's the official number of seconds remaining on the clock in the third period when Gophers' senior defensemen Justin Holl netted the game-winning goal.

That's Justin Holl's total goals scored this season for the Gophers prior to Thursday night's buzzer beater — he certainly made his first goal of his last collegiate season count.
2 - 1
That was the final score of last night's game, with all three goals being tallied in the second half of the third period. At 10:51, Minnesota's Sam Warning scored to give the Gophers a 1-0 lead. Only 32 seconds later, North Dakota responded with a goal of their own by former Edina standout Connor Gaarder, evening the score at 1-1. And then, less than ten minutes later — and less than one second before regulation time expired — maroon and gold fans were treated to the aforementioned literal last-second heroics by Holl.
3 - 2
That is the Gophers' all-time NCAA Tournament record against their bitter rivals from North Dakota. The last time the two storied hockey programs met in 2012, the Gophers beat UND 5-2 in the regional final before being pummeled 6-1 by eventual national champion Boston College in the Frozen Four semifinal.
146 - 130 - 15
That is the Gophers' overall all-time record against UND in a long-standing border puck war for which the opening shots were fired way back in 1930. This year was the first time since 1947 that the two teams didn't skate against one another in the regular season.
11 and 5
Eleven is the number of National Championship games in which the Gopher men have played; five is the number of championships they've won — the last one coming in 2003 (They also won the championship in 2002).
6:30
That's the time (CST) the puck is scheduled to drop when the Gopher's take on Union College (N.Y.) on Saturday night for the NCAA Championship. Union beat Boston College 5-4 in the other Frozen Four semifinal on Thursday to advance to their first championship game in the program's history.
